One of our favorite shrubs in the garden and always noticed by customers is our Aphrodite Sweet Shrub. It looks tropical but is tough and I have never noticed any disease of pests on the plant.
It is an improved calycanthus with large, bright red magnolia-like flowers with a sweet fragrance. This continuous blooming shrub has a large leaf that is glossy and a nice dark green. We prune it quite hard every spring but it does grow back to its full size each summer so give it a good size space to reach its potential.
