A superb, large shrub, that can be grown as a large shrub or a short climber, with long, slightly arching, almost thorn-less growth. This is a tough, disease-free rose that is excellent for the back of a mixed border and can be trained into a wonderful short climber by supporting the bush on a structure. Since it is an almost thorn-less rose it is great for a pillar or arch close to your walkway or deck. It can reach 8 feet. The color is a lovely warm pink at the center, shading to pale pink at the edges. The flowers are large and full, with many petals arranged in a neat formation, forming a beautiful domed bloom. There is a delicious old rose scent. Also hardy, vigorous and healthy it can grow in a zone 4 climate. It was named in celebration of the 60th birthday of James Galway, the world famous flutist.Â
